About the Project
1. What is the Problem or Opportunity?
Braintrust has grown a very large social media following and is building a strong reputation in the future of work and Web3 spaces. We currently lack the social media analytics capabilities to understand how our content is resonating with our large audiences on Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn on the Braintrust accounts and co-founder accounts. Without this capability, it is very difficult to tailor our content to the needs and interests of these followings, to understand what folks are engaging with, and make informed decisions to improve our strategy, grow our followings, and increase engagement to ultimately drive brand awareness.
Project Evaluation: Ambassador Projects Evaluation Framework
Focus Area: Marketing
2. Why now?
Our social media following has increased at incredible rates. All Twitter accounts went from 10k or fewer followers to 140k followers, and the Braintrust YouTube went from 1k to 80k subscribers. Coupled with above-average industry engagement rates (roughly 4x the average at 4% on Twitter and more than 20k hours of watch time on Youtube in the past 90 days). It’s important to capitalize on this major jump and immediately engage with these individuals to continue building brand faith and awareness with broader audiences.
3. Project Overview
Build a social media analytics dashboard (or several) using the tools at our disposal to enable accurate measurement of our social media performance and empower data-driven decision-making. Existing tools in our arsenal include:
Hubspot: Social media reporting
Keyhole: Professional plan (custom set up includes 10 profile trackers and 5 social listening trackers, which include 5 keywords and 10,000 posts each)
Shield: Creator plan
YouTube: Standard analytics
Google Analytics
Hubspot: Social media reporting
3a. High-Level Requirements
Set up an analytics dashboard(s) within existing tools (preferred) or within Google Data Studio (if existing tools cannot solve this challenge) that provides insights into Braintrust Twitter, LinkedIn, and Youtube accounts as well as Twitter and LinkedIn accounts for both Co-Founders, Adam Jackson and Gabe Luna-Ostaseski. The dashboard should allow us to see:
Impressions
Follower growth
Post engagement
Mentions Brand sentiment
Branded hashtag performance
Social listening for relevant Web3, Future of Work, etc. topic trends we can capitalize on by joining the conversation and sharing perspective
Audience demographics including identifying followers who carry a high following themselves (the idea being to prioritize engagement with high-traffic accounts)
Social traffic metrics
Top performing posts, worst performing posts
Clear takeaways on how we can improve growth and engagement including best time to post, best post formats, successful content types/themes, etc.
Post scheduling capabilities
Specifically, we are looking for dashboards with the best, clearest visualizations to help us see growth over time and make optimizations on our content. Examples of insightful visualizations in various tools:
Clear audience demographics in Sprout Social
Clear post optimization suggestions for time, date, length, etc. in Keyhole
Topic trends over time in Keyhole
Clear follower growth in Keyhole
3b. Refining Requirements
Your proposal should expand on what is written above by providing any additional measurement or analytics capabilities that might help us grow and engage our followings. It also should provide a clear idea of how you plan to build these dashboards and what you anticipate they will look like.
4. Milestones & Checkpoints
All contributors will be expected to record a 1-minute summary video to be shared with the community in the monthly Growth Reports video.
Weeks 1:
Dive into existing tools, evaluate the best solution for displaying clear insights into account performance. Align on what data to analyze and display. Spec out each dashboard to be built.
Week 2:
Build and QA dashboard(s).
Week 3:
Utilize completed dashboard to run comprehensive analysis on current social media performance, provide recommendations for improvement based on insights. Train the social media team on how to use the dashboard.
5. What is success?
Success means having a single (or multiple) dashboard that enables the team to measure all the aforementioned performance metrics. It also means providing a dashboard solution that can be used to drive real data-driven results to improve social media growth and engagement.
